Bowel cancer screening is a test you do at home that checks for signs of bowel cancer. It's offered to everyone aged 50 to 74 every two years. Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancer, if we can help find cancer early, before you have any symptoms, it may mean it is easier to treat.
Bowel cancer screening uses a test called a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) to look for blood in a sample of your poo. This could be a sign of bowel cancer. You collect the sample at home and send it by post to be tested.

Yesterday was potentially one of the busiest days we have ever experienced. We had unprecedented numbers of requests for urgent/same day appointments. We prepared for the Tuesday post-bank holiday by allocating nearly all clinics as urgent/on the day. We assessed and saw as many patients as we safely could across the day. We are experiencing very similar today - we opened the phone lines and online form at 8am as usual and have already reached capacity for the day at 8:15am.
